August’s Volunteer of the Month Jes Iusi
Jes lusi is a wife, mother of two and first grade teacher for Pittsburgh Public Schools. Diagnosed in fall of 2021, at the age of 37, Jes lusi was diagnosed with Stage 2B Triple Negative breast cancer. After undergoing two surgeries and 16 rounds of chemo, Jes lusi is still thriving!
“412Thrive means so much to me,” lusi said. “I was a recipient of the care packages that were incredibly useful, but it’s the community I cherish most.”
Iusi attended her first in-person event at the conclusion of chemotherapy and met another Thriver with a similar diagnosis who told her about a newly approved trial med she was on. She also found that they shared the same oncologist, so at her next appointment, lusi inquired to see if the trial med would be the right fit for her too; She was approved for it. “I could very well owe my life to that conversation,” she said. In addition to her physical life, lusi said she owes her positive mental health status to 412Thrive. “The friendships, connections, and bonds I have built with these women are invaluable.”
