Katie dudas

Director of Marketing

In 2019, at 39 years old, I was diagnosed with Stage 2B breast cancer. My first mammograms were also my last. That year turned my world upside down. Just months before my own diagnosis, my incredibly strong mom was diagnosed with breast cancer with the same staging. I went from caregiver to patient in an instant.

I went through chemotherapy, radiation, a bilateral mastectomy, and numerous reconstruction surgeries. Through it all, I found 412Thrive, a community that became my lifeline. The friendships I’ve made here have been invaluable, and I’m incredibly grateful to be part of a group that lifts each other up through every step of the journey.

Now, as a Thriver, I use my marketing skills to help 412Thrive grow and reach more people who need the same support I found. I also work in photography and marketing with YaJagoff Media and Sidekick Media, where I get to combine my love for storytelling, social media, and community engagement.

When I’m not behind the camera or working on marketing campaigns, you can find me hiking, gardening, hanging out with my cats, or watching wrestling. Speaking of wrestling, I’m proud to hold the title of 2PW’s Kicking Cancer’s Ass Champion!

One of the most incredible honors of my journey was being recognized by the Pittsburgh Penguins at their Hockey Fights Cancer game, a moment that reminded me just how strong and supportive this city can be.

412Thrive has given me so much, and I’m honored to give back in any way I can.
