Meet our beautiful Thursday Thriver Sarah Nichole
Hello everyone!! My name is Sarah! I am 27 and live just outside of the city with my lovely fiancé Matthew and our 2 dogs
My fiancé purposed to me 3 months after we lost my mom suddenly to a stroke. The last 2 years have been an absolute whirlwind, but I am so blessed to have him by my side through all of it. We were actually supposed to get married this weekend, but covid and cancer had other plans. So we decided to postpone until next September, and I know it will be even that much more special. I’m an avid animal lover, we have fostered dogs over the past few years. We currently have 2 baby girls of our own, which are me world! #crazydogmom I am a labor and delivery nurse, and absolutely love my job. I can not wait to get back to delivering those babes and back to my fabulous coworkers.
I got that dreaded phone call on July 24th of this year, just a week after finding the lump on my breast. Being so young and having no real direct family history, I was in complete shock. I was diagnosed with a very aggressive stage 2a estrogen/progesterone postive, her-2 negative. No lymph node involvement, and genetic screenings negative. I am lucky to have caught it when I did! I started chemo (adriamycin/cytoxen for 4 rounds) on August 7th, 3 says before my 27th birthday. I am currently receiving taxol(12 rounds) and just had my 8 out of 16 overall chemo treatment yesterday! Halfway there!! My tumor so far has shrunk from 4cm to 1cm. So blessed here! I will tentatively have a lumpectomy beginning of February. Followed by 4 weeks of radiation. Getting cancer is not easy, getting cancer young is terrifying when you have so many plans for the future (kids, a wedding, a long list of life plans/goals). But having so, so much support from my amazing fiancé, family, friends, my pups, and of course this wonderful group has been pushing me forward to be able to experience all that life has to offer. There are bad days, but on those days I look to God and thank him for the strength he has given me, and continues to give me! I feel so honored to be apart of this group, surrounded by so many amazingly strong, beautiful women! Thank you all for your support and motivation. I am so inspired by each and every one of you. And I hope to one day be able to help and inspire those in my shoes
