I am a 34-year-old 2x Breast Cancer survivor, mom & wife. I was originally diagnosed in April 2016, at the age of 30, with Stage 2B Breast Cancer in my left breast (ER+/PR-/Her2-) with lymph node involvement. The very next month, I began 6 months of aggressive chemotherapy. Once I finished chemo, I underwent a lumpectomy in November with re-incision in December. In January I started an ovarian suppression shot and began 36 treatments of radiation. Radiation was completed in March 2017, and I then began anti-hormonal medication. I am on the combination of treatments till present day. During all this, I had a 2-year-old daughter and lost my job in July 2017. I was considered NED in December of 2016 and was good to go for 4 years.

Then, May 22nd of this past year, while planning a wedding during a global pandemic, I was diagnosed with a local Stage 1 Triple negative breast cancer recurrence in the left breast, near the same area of the original cancer. I was diagnosed after a suspicious area was found during my routine diagnostic mammogram, followed by an ultrasound to confirm the area. After the CT and Bone scans confirmed there was no metastasizing, my doctors recommended  a bilateral mastectomy, which I had on July 13th. After surgery was completed, radiation was not required, but again, I would need to have 6 rounds of chemotherapy, every 3 weeks of Carboplatin and Taxotere, that began this past October 2nd.

Nonetheless, I got married to my husband on September 18 and am currently kicking cancer’s ass! Cancer didn’t stop me then, and it wont now! I will complete my 6th and final treatment next Friday, January 22nd, ringing that bell one FINAL time!
